Abstract

This article explores the implications of the use of lethal drones in modern military strategy, based on classical theorists such as Sun Tzu, Clausewitz and Liddell Hart. The use of drones has revolutionized the battlefield, providing advanced surveillance, reconnaissance and attack capabilities without putting pilots at risk, and they have played a crucial role in several recent conflicts. Drones are framed by classic strategic principles, such as Sun Tzu's deception and adaptability, Clausewitz's interrelation of politics and warfare, and Liddell Hart's flexibility. However, they also pose significant ethical and legal challenges. As a result, a Drone Air Power equation is posited, integrating key variables such as political will, economics, organization, technology, and deterrence, which synthesizes their importance in today’s defense and security.
