The security and defense policy as the main strategy to exercise effective control in Catatumbo

This article analyzes the causes and factors that led the Catatumbo region to develop one of the most complex criminal ecosystems in the Latin American region, a place where several Organized Armed Groups (GAO) carry out activities related to crime. internationally organized and known as deviant globalization. An explanation is made about the generalities of the Catatumbo region, showing relevant aspects to contextualize the reader, giving him a perspective of the public order situation that currently lives in this region. As a second aspect, the analysis is described, and the management carried out by the different State agencies in the fields of security and defense is highlighted. Finally, some final conclusions are made where the impacts caused by the State strategy in the communities residing in Catatumbo will be related.
