The Art of Government: Reason of State and National Security

The art of government emerges as a series of techniques related to the rational conduct of the State, which seek to achieve the goals and objectives set forth by politics. The defense and protection of state components can be summarized in three main areas: government, population, and territory, which are its strategic priorities along with the expansion of state functions and the organization of society. In this sense, the political sphere developed the bases of the reason of State, understood as a systematic and reasoned calculation to achieve the best government that can guarantee the survival and permanence of the State, which, in its genesis, built its government apparatus around the action of professional armies and devices linked to national security. Under this logic, this article aims to explain the relationship between the reason of the State and national security insofar as this binomial is a substantive part of the art of government to this end, a theoretical-hermeneutical analysis was carried out, concluding that the art of government is still based on the reason of the State and national security to ensure the existence of the State.
