1. FOCUS AND SCOPE

The journal Estudios en Seguridad y Defensa (RESD), is an open access academic publication, reviewed by peers and edited biannually by the Colombian War College “General Rafael Reyes Prieto” (ESDEG), the main center of joint thought of the Colombian Military Forces, through its ESDEG Editorial Press.

The RESD is an interdisciplinary journal, with a focus on the Social Sciences (Class 5I01, OECD / UNESCO), open to the discussion and dissemination of theoretical works and research on the policies, models, approaches, security and defense perspectives of the different disciplines such as political science and international relations, among others. 

Texts from areas related to the Social Sciences are welcome, whose themes revolve around any of the following lines and/or sublines of research:

2. THEMATIC ORGANIZATION AND TARGET AUDIENCE

Each issue of the journal Estudios en Seguridad y Defensa has three sections that refer to the symbols that characterize the military being and doing:

a) Insignia: these are the elements that denote the military ranks on the uniform, thus marking a guide. Thus, this section contains the articles that guide the issue, which refer to a central theme.

b) Laurels: they are the symbol of victory and military glory, an important part of which is achieved through knowledge. For this reason, this section contains open topic articles relevant to the area of ​​Security and Defense.

c) Pavilions: they distinguish the different units of reflection. In this section there is a series of additional content such as reviews, notes, disputes and bibliographic essays, among others.

The RESD is aimed at a wide audience that includes political decision-makers, members of the Armed Forces, public servants, professionals, teachers, researchers and students of social sciences and other areas of knowledge, interested in security and defense.

3. TYPE AND LANGUAGE OF ARTICLES

The RESD publishes articles in Spanish and English in three categories:

a) Scientific and technological research: document that presents in detail the original results derived from completed research and/or technological development projects.

b) Reflection: document that offers research results from an analytical, interpretive and critical perspective of the author, on a specific topic, resorting to original sources.

c) Review: document that organizes, analyzes and integrates the results of published or unpublished research on a field in science or technology, in order to account for advances and development trends.

4. PERIODICITY

The RESD is published semiannually (January-June and July-December) in digital format (e-ISSN: 2744-8932) and printed format (ISSN: 1900-8325). The online version and the printed version are published on the penultimate day of the last month of the period of each issue, that is, June 30 for the January-June issue and December 30 for the July-December issue. Each of the RESD articles has a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) ​​assigned for identification and referencing.

5. FINANCING

The journal Estudios en Seguridad y Defensa is an academic publication of the Colombian War College “General Rafael Reyes Prieto” (ESDEG), belonging, in turn, to the General Command of the Military Forces of Colombia which, as a public entity, is financed with the resources allocated by the national government. To maintain its critical and independent character, the RESD does not accept financing from outside the ESDEG for its operation. Thus, the entire publication process of the magazine is completely free of cost for the authors; There are also no charges for the sending, processing and publication of articles (no article submission or processing charge ).

6. OPEN ACCESS, COPYRIGHT AND LICENSE FOR PUBLICATION

The ESDEG Editorial Press is a signatory of the Budapest Declaration and all its published content is open access , with full recognition of the moral rights of the authors over their work. For publication, the authors agree to assign the publication rights to the ESDEG and the ESDEG Editorial Press in accordance with the terms of the Creative Commons license: Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivativeWorks

In this way, authors and readers can copy and disseminate the article in the final version published online by the RESD, as long as the author (or authors) of the article is recognized and identified, commercial use is not made of the final published article. , nor are they derivative works or modified versions.

7. CROSSMARK POLICY

The RESD uses Crossmark to keep its readers informed of any changes to published articles. CrossMark is an initiative by CrossRef to provide a standardized way to locate the official version of a document. The RESD recognizes the importance of maintaining the integrity of academic records for researchers and libraries, which is why it guarantees that your electronic archive always has reliable content.

Clicking the CrossMark icon informs the reader of the current status of the document as well as additional information about the document's publication history. The contents that show the CrossMark icon are those contents published on the RESD website , current or future.

8. ARCHIVE OF CONTENTS

The RESD uses the Portico platform for the digital archive of published content. Likewise, the RESD allows authors to self-archive their article in the final version published online in institutional, thematic repositories or personal websites.

9. RESPONSIBILITY OF CONTENT

Responsibility for the content of the articles published by the RESD corresponds exclusively to the authors. The positions and assertions presented are the result of an academic and investigative exercise that does not represent the official or institutional position of the War College “General Rafael Reyes Prieto”, the General Command of the Colombian Military Forces or the Ministry of National Defense .
